Birth Photography is something no one thinks about here in Quebec, yet, the day your child is born is THE MOST important day of your life. There is no other day that will ever come close to the feelings and emotions you will experience on this day. I was looking for clients who would be interested in having their birth story photographed for my portfolio, and Katy contacted me with such enthusiasm. Throughout the months waiting for the arrival of her baby boy, we got to know each other and I build a relationship with her. Two weeks before her due date, I packed my bags, and was on call waiting for her to let me know she was in labor. There were many false alarms, however on Thursday, April 4th, 2019, the call finally came in at 2:04 am, Katy was in Labor. I rushed to get there as soon as I could, but I was too late. Katy gave birth to a beautiful healthy, 10.5 lbs baby boy at 2:35 am. I walked in, and there she was, on her bed, holding her beautiful miracle in her arms, her husband and daughter by her side. It was so peaceful. It was absolutely beautiful. Katy had a huge smile on her face, she was glowing, and she was in love. I stayed with them for a few hours, capturing the first few hours of baby Alasdair's life with his family.   I got to hear his first cries and see his first feed. Katy was able to hold her son in her arms and treasure what she had just gone through. I got the chance to see her husband hold his son for the first time.  The look in his eyes blew me away. And of course, the big sister! Wanting to bring her new baby brother her books and stuffed animals, and giving him sweet and gentle kisses.  I witnessed one of the most beautiful, peaceful moments of my life. I am truly blessed to have been a part of this wonderful family's birth story, and I will forever treasure those few hours of my life.
